Reader, content creator, and enthusiastic recommender of books you should probably not read on public transport.
I'm Emily — a passionate reader based in Amsterdam with a deep love for contemporary fiction, fantasy, romance, and anything that makes me cry on public transport. I've been sharing my reading life online for a few years now, and Emily Indigo Books is where all of it comes together.
I started creating book content because I couldn't stop talking about the books I was reading — and eventually the internet became my reading group. Now I share reviews, recommendations, reading vlogs and more across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Goodreads and Threads.
The name? Indigo is my favourite colour — calm, deep, a little mysterious. Kind of like how I feel about the best books.
I read everywhere — café tables, cosy window seats, by the fire, on the canal. I'm equally at home with a physical book or my Kobo, and I firmly believe the best reading is always done with a good drink nearby.
My goal is 52 books a year — one a week — across as many different genres as I can manage. I track everything on Goodreads and I'm always happy to talk recommendations, whether in my DMs or in person.
"Reading is the closest thing to telepathy — you're experiencing someone else's mind."
Amsterdam has incredible bookshops, literary cafés, and a reading culture I love being part of. You'll often find me reading at a café along the canals, or hunting for the next great read in a secondhand bookshop.
When I'm not reading, I'm usually convincing friends they absolutely need to drop everything and read whatever I just finished — or planning the next book club evening.
